The Casual Administration Relief Officer provides reception, customer service and administration support across Council when additional assistance is required. Full training and support will be provided. 

About the Role 

  • Provide reception and customer service support to community members, visitors and staff. 

  • Answer telephones, greet visitors and respond to enquiries in a professional and respectful manner. 

  • Assist with filing, scanning, photocopying, data entry and document preparation. 

  • Support staff with records, correspondence, bookings and general administrative tasks. 

  • Assist with meetings, events and community activities as required. 

  • Follow Council procedures, workplace policies and safe work practices. 

  • Handle information with confidentiality and professionalism. 

  • Work cooperatively with Council staff across a variety of work areas. 

Key Responsibilities 

Friendly and respectful communication skills with a strong customer service focus. 

Basic computer skills and a willingness to learn new systems and processes. 

Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks accurately and efficiently. 

Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a team. 

Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional conduct. 

Desirable 

  • Previous administration or customer service experience. 

  • Knowledge of the Palm Island community. 

  • Experience working in local government or community organisations.
