About the Role 

 As the Storeperson, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day operation of Council's stores and inventory functions. You'll help ensure stock, equipment, materials and Council assets are accurately received, stored, recorded and distributed to support operational service delivery across Palm Island.  

Working closely with Council staff, suppliers and contractors, you'll support inventory control, stock replenishment, procurement activities and asset accountability while maintaining safe, efficient and well-organised storage systems.  

This role is ideal for someone who is organised, detail-oriented and takes pride in maintaining accurate records, supporting operational teams and ensuring Council resources are managed responsibly.  

Key Responsibilities 

  • Receive, inspect and issue stock, materials, tools and equipment. 

  • Maintain accurate inventory records, stock control systems and asset allocation records. 

  • Monitor stock levels and assist with stock forecasting, ordering and replenishment activities. 

  • Conduct stocktakes and support inventory audits. 

  • Report and assist in resolving stock discrepancies and inventory variances. 

  • Support procurement and purchasing activities in accordance with Council procedures. 

  • Coordinate the receipt, dispatch and distribution of freight, deliveries and supplies. 

  • Ensure stores and storage areas are safe, organised and secure. 

  • Work collaboratively with Council staff, suppliers and contractors. 

  • Contribute to a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace. 

  • Support the efficient delivery of Council operations across Palm Island 

Required 

  • Experience in stores, warehousing, logistics, inventory control or a similar role.  

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.  

  • Ability to maintain accurate records and use inventory, asset management or other digital systems confidently.  

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.  

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.  

  • Commitment to workplace health and safety.  

  • Current Queensland "C" Class Driver Licence.

  • Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations (Warehousing Operations) or equivalent qualification, or willingness to obtain.  

  • Forklift Licence or willingness to obtain.  

  • Experience using inventory, stores, procurement or asset management systems.  

  • Experience supporting procurement, stock control or supply chain activities.  

  • Experience in local government, construction, maintenance or operational environments.
