Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council COMMUNITY NOTICEChief Executive Officer Appointment Update
Dear Palm Island Community,
At the Ordinary Council Meeting held on Wednesday, 28 May 2025, it was resolved that a further contract of employment will not be offered to Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council’s Chief Executive Officer, Michael Bissell. He will conclude his tenure at the close of business on 30 May 2025. Council extends its sincere thanks to Michael for his service to the Palm Island community and wishes him all the best for the future.
In the interim, Stephen Martin has been appointed as Acting Chief Executive Officer. Stephen brings significant experience and knowledge to the role, and Council is confident he will provide strong leadership and stability during this transitional period.
Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council remains committed to serving and delivering for our community. We appreciate your ongoing support and engagement as we move through this period of change.
