Airport

Council operates the Palm Island Airport.

This airport is a critical link to the mainland for members of the community that need to access services within a short timeframe.

There is also a helipad on the foreshore near the hospital for the transfer of critically ill or injured patients.

Normal commercial flights to and from Palm Island, and freight deliveries, are managed by Hinterland Aviation. They can be contacted on 07 4759 3777 (Townsville) or 07 4770 1224 (Palm Island).
Charter flights can also land during normal operating hours (7:00am to 5:00pm). Landings must be coordinated with Hinterland well in advance.
Helicopter Landings must be notified to the ARO at least one hour in advance.
